About The Artwork

In order to start the counterfeit banknote workshop again, I embroidered Hong Kong banknotes of different values. This is a ten-dollar banknote issued by Standard Chartered Bank of Hong Kong in 1981. It is also called the Big Carp. The circular pattern on the left and the carp on the right have Chinese characteristics, however, the backside has the royal symbol and the Standard Chartered Bank Building. It has a mixture of Chinese and Western characteristics and memories of old Hong Kong. I simplified the pattern inside the banknote, but presented the text faithfully. I didn’t want to change the design, I just wanted to express my impressions and feelings about it. This embroidery work is the prototype of the counterfeit banknotes created by me. It may be made into screen-printed counterfeit banknotes in the future.
