CAT IN TREE Artwork

"Cat In Tree" was inspired primarily because I love cats and animals. This paricular project was inspired as I saw the shape of a cat in one of the fabric pieces and went with it that energy! Minimalism is appreciated in the simplicity and humbleness of the subject with torn fabrics, contrasting light/dark earthen grays and the used card stock, paper bags its made with. I used method of free style Sashiko stitching based on the Japanese method of Visible stitching. I distressed the front of recycled card by filing to create more of a vintage or rustic vibe. The edges are purposely frayed on cat and tree with the tail of cat made from the frayed threads of the tree. I tore a few edges to follow the energy of the piece and distressed it slightly with permanent ink. I gave a backing to the piece with non-toxic fabric adhesive which also serves to further adhere stitching design in front. Only the tail in the front has a few dabs of fabric glue to adhere it. "Cat In Tree" is Original and made with all recycled fabrics and paper and will not be replicated as I work with only what I have so each design is different by nature of my sustainable approach. No sprays or sealants were used. "Cat In Tree" measures approx W 4" X approx L 7" , Unframed Certificate of Authenticity Included. Signature on Front and Back of this piece.
