Pattern observations of wrought iron railings around a church in a village. The gold leaf reflects the metal of the railings and also the interior of the church itself, with rich displays of gold and icon paintings. Each tea bag shows a glimpse of a pattern. The tea bags were dyed and individual motifs placed over each tea bag, resisting the gold leaf, creating a relief. The pattern was outlined using whipped running stitch for a strong, bold effect. Tea bags are extremely versatile and durable and can withstand many processes. The finished texture resembles fabric, or high quality hand-made paper. The piece is one of two studies and is unframed allowing for personal preference of mount and frame.
