I have Hummingbirds all over in my yard! They are fun to watch and are very aggressive with each other. It would appear that they are dancing with each other, but in actuality, they are jousting and jostling for position. The colors are iridescent and electric. I wanted to capture these elements along with the colorful beauty and movements. I sat and drew gesture drawings for a couple of months of my hummers in action, using sharpies and colored pencils. I then choose the best renditions and refined the doodles into individual birds. I added small squiggles and swirls in each to make each one unique with a lot of movements and colors within each one as well. When I was satisfied with the final renderings, I chose three out of the 12 that I had drawn and put them in the computer. I then drew a flower repeat pattern to layer underneath the three and put in a shadow effect for extra dimension and movement enhancement. I love the end result! This original limited edition digital piece comes with a finished black backing with hanging hooks already in place, is signed and numbered on the back with a certificate of authenticity and has an artist bio included.
