Born and raised in Boston, Lincolnshire, I grew up surrounded by fields that stretched for miles over an ever-changing countryside. In my early twenties I ventured into the hustle and bustle of urban city life. Since then, in my work, I have sought to explore the relationship between the urban and rural landscape through it's mystery, mood and character, driven by an attempt to forge an understanding of my place in the world. These drawings explore the changing elements of nature and the impact it has on the local environment through the use of digital media. Drawn using an iPod/iPad, they play on the immediacy of technology to create fleeting moments in time which are influenced by the daily journeys I take from the countryside into the city. Observing the landscape as I travel, I'm interested in exploring the theatrical/dramatic influence of light and the enveloping effect the natural elements have on our surroundings; moments in time when the natural forces are at their most expressive, yet in an urban world can be often overlooked.
