ABOUT THE ARTWORK

“Enlacement II” shows two bodies intimately linked to each other, in a vertical overlap which is reminiscent of the figure of the totem, but a double totem here. The embrace seems loving, but the identity of the two lovers is not revealed to us and remains ambiguous, mysterious. Due to the mineral matter that they have in common, the two bodies seem to merge into a single entity, an intertwining of indestructible stone. This work is produced in mixed media on canvas. It combines photography, digital art and acrylic painting (lacquered glaze and relief squares), it is a unique piece and it is accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. The painting is framed in black wood (dimensions: approximately 57 x 37 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 80 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
