My ‘Moral Code’ series employs timeless sewing techniques, fibres, and basic programming to craft a modern reimagining of traditional art forms, questioning the evolving relevance of craftsmanship in a technology-saturated era. This title serves as a double entendre, reflecting both the digital algorithms that inspire my work and the ethical principles guiding my return to the tactile, heritage-rich practices of craft. Beginning with computer-generated pixel patterns created through numerical algorithms, I digitally manipulate these templates to provoke distinct emotional and aesthetic reactions. This process not only bridges the digital with the tactile but also challenges the impersonal nature of technology through the intimacy of craft. As an artist deeply rooted in both the old and the new, I interpret these digital blueprints through the time-honoured practices of weaving, piecing, and sewing, transforming abstract bytes into palpable, textured realities. Each piece is then framed traditionally, underscoring the dialogue between past and present. In this blend, I seek not only to preserve the integrity and significance of manual craftsmanship but also to redefine its place in the digital age. ‘Moral Code’ stands as a testament to the enduring power of human touch in art — a beacon of resilience in an ephemeral world.
