Abhijit, an artist born in Kolkata in 1962, was immersed in the world of writers and artists from an early age. Although his passion lay in painting and drawing, familial expectations led him to pursue a degree in Chemical Engineering at Jadavpur University. Later, he furthered his education by obtaining an MBA from IIM-Calcutta. His artistic journey began in 1978 when he acquired a point-and-shoot camera, marking the commencement of his exploration through the photographic medium. Despite a career spanning 33 years with various Indian and Multinational organizations, Abhijit's commitment to art remained unwavering. His professional endeavors took him across continents, providing unique opportunities to fuse his work with diverse cultural influences. While his early creations predominantly featured Landscape, Wildlife, and Travel themes, Abhijit gradually evolved, drawing inspiration from the intricate beauty of nature. His artistic expression transitioned into minimalism, fine arts, and conceptual abstracts, earning him prestigious international awards in IPA,Px3,MIFA etc., including the esteemed EFIAP Honors. Notable publications such as NatGeo and Dodho have featured his work, showcasing his impact on the global art scene. In a significant acknowledgment of his expertise, Abhijit was invited to join the Grand Jury panel of the New York Photography Awards in 2022. However, feeling confined by the limitations of photography, he brought in traditional mediums like oil, acrylic, and pen & ink on canvas, creating a new dimension of mix-media work to his artistic repertoire. Abhijit's artistic prowess was showcased in a highly successful exhibition at the India Art Festival in Mumbai. Following this, he participated in "Amalgamation-10," an exhibition featuring elite Indian artists, held at Cymroza Art Gallery in Mumbai in 2023. Poised on the brink of unveiling his latest experimental works, Abhijit continues to push the boundaries of artistic expression.
