My new artwork series was created around the idea of parallel universes. The emerging images serving as a juxtaposition between familiar objects, scenes and situations, and the arrangement that some how suggests the notion of a dream like state. The room has intrigued me as a concept through these artworks. With the idea of privacy, that which is public, deep meanings of personal items and belongings as well as the feeling, like a certain sound, are all an aesthetic cradle in promoting my creative explorations. The process has been born from a mixed-media approach that has myself applying traditional painting skills in a combination of digital manipulation and dibond printing (high quality print on aluminium sheet). Parts of my drawings and paintings have been manipulated in the new works, and by doing so transforming their role in the composition and so forming a new narrative to the work. Creating hidden semantics in the pieces is not an intension of mine. The purpose is to allow the viewer to seek their own interpretation and allow for free association in all the elements of the pieces. I regularly achieves this by recording events; either by drawing or photographing situations, that later can be brought back to life in the artworks. My wishes are to give new leases of life to what are often ignored aspects of our lives. I have gained much influence from many masters of art, which can be safely detected in her work. Artists such as Richard Hamilton, and his first Pop Art collages, to Gustav Klimt’s dreamy atmospheres, together with the marvellous approach to space found in Francis Bacon’s works.
