About The Artwork

KING AYISOBA & RAS ASUA Drawn Live on iPad 31052013 By Jenny Soep Support: ZEA Promoter: Mother Venue: Hemliga Trädgården Link to the Event Page and More Information: https://www.facebook.com/events/567219896634282/ (Blurb Via Gavin Maycroft/Mother) King Ayisoba (Ghana, Makkum Records) King Ayisoba is a star in Ghana. His kologo sounds melodic and percussive at the same time and with Panji Anoff, his producer, he changed the Accra music scene by using traditional instruments together with the hip life (a style that emerged in Ghana in the mid-90s and contains hip hop and dancehall elements) beats, bleeps and bass. His lyrics are very personal, sometimes funny, often urgent and always imaginative. A novelty appeared on the Ghana Music Awards Festival 2007 when Ayisoba, being a traditional artist, won in the category 'most popular song of the year'. Traditional music had hardly been in the mainstream of Ghanaian music but King Ayisoba changed it all. http://makkumrecords.nl/mr8.html http://www.thisisafrica.me/artists/detail/238/king-ayisoba http://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/people/person.php?ID=583 Nambiliwinne; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u73EmECuV4c I want to see you my father....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3_EBMsxyCQ — at Hemliga Trädgården.

Renowned visual artist Jenny Soep uses her own specialised style to simultaneously translate onto digital or paper canvas, live original music and arts performances. She has used varying mediums and technologies including iPod, mobile phone, wacom tablet and 'traditional' paper and watercolours, though predominantly now uses iPad. The aim is for the 'in situ' drawings to be affected by the live event, music, atmosphere, special effects and time constraints. Jenny Soep has her MA in Illustration: Authorial Practice with work in publications and collections internationally, having exhibited across Europe and as far away as Taiwan. She has been creating 'experience' drawings since drawing at a Jazz festival in 2000, and has collaborated with animators, sound designers, actors, dancers, musicians, playwrights and psychodramatists. Jenny Soep has created and performed integral drawing performances in theatre as well as having documented various prestigious live art, literature, music, dance and theatre events, not least being the 'official drawer' for Sweden's own Polar Music Prize, this year being awarded to Youssou N'Dour and Kaija Saariyaho.
