The design has been scored by soldering iron, making marks and bonding in the same time with polyester and acrylic felt. Freely machine embroidered and quilted. Half hearth, half brain, half thought, half pain, half pure, half vain. Can you find the line where your education stops conditioning you and your inner freedom starts spreading its wings?

1949 Cilavegna (Italy)Since 1995 I totally devoted myself to Fiber Art working and studying full time on the perfection of those artistic techniques always cultivated as a pastime and as a self-educated person. As a textile artist I have always enjoyed the process of experimenting with different techniques in the hope to find out new exciting outcomes. My love for colour and texture led me to work with several types of media as paint, paper, fabric and plastic that are usually the start point to develop themes and subjects.I am adventurous in the use of materials and colours, often combining a variety of techniques like printing, stitching, burning and embroidering, to create dept and texture on my textile works. At a certain point my experiments, through manipulation, dictated by just a sheer pleasure for manual skills, have been transformed into an artistic research. My methods and techniques changed, developed and adapted over time leading my interests towards different fields of textile art. The result is that my works are often very different from each other on techniques as well on size.I work intuitively and spontaneously most of the time, although I often have a clear idea of where I want the piece to go. Sometimes I do a very simple sketch, other times I just have an idea whirling around in my head.Very often the concept of my work is dictated by the title of the exhibition I want to enter or by the materials I have at hand in that moment. My great curiosity for ancient cultures and civilizations suggested me to develop a series of works depicting the Fayoums portraits, by using encaustic and bleaching techniques on paper. I attempted to give the works the illusion of a patina of age, integrating my love for stitch with my fascination for the past.In Dreaming in Universe I freely embroidered my image on tea dyed tissue paper that was cut and applied onto a marbled plastic background.Figures are common in my works because of the feelings, emotions and dialogue they convey. Like no other subject matter, the figure has the ability to speak to the viewer in an extremely intimate manner.
