About The Artwork

My New Art Project was inspired again by Ukrainian History and traditions. Motanka doll is a Ukrainian folk doll, a symbol of women’s wisdom, a family amulet. From time immemorial, the motanka doll has served as a talisman in every family, a symbol of wisdom, guardian of the family, a symbol of the mother-ancestor and connection between generations, one of the most ancient toys and sacred (sacred) beings of our nation, thousands and thousands of years old. Berehynya – crosses were wound about their faces. And they were made for different needs: for a person to recover, for it to rain or vice versa – the downpour stopped, the storm stopped… All items of motanka clothing are symbolic: the skirt represents the earth; the shirt – three times: past, present and future; headdress – cap, ribbon or scarf – connection with the sky … It is no coincidence that the motanka doll does not have a face. After all, it arose not as a toy, but as a sacred thing. She was to call the spirit of a dead or unborn person to the living, to invite her to the family, to the table, or to the child she was raising. SHE brought up. For it embodied the spirit of the ancient Ancestor, A sacred being with a cross instead of a face symbolizes the harmony of vertical (spirituality) and horizontal (human development), ie helps to harmonize space. Such toys should be on the penance of the sunrise, above the crib (protects the child), above the door (meets and sees off guests) … this picture of motanka, let it be as a talisman, from the ancient roots of Ukraine

I am Elena Bandurka Ukrainian Ultra Contemporary Artist. I make sculptures and installations from garbage. I converted things into something new and interesting, not only pure cannon and paint from the store, it has no space for me. And I still like to invest in every job. Art communicates with its viewers. Through art, it is possible to talk to people. My grandfather was in politics for a very long time, so I put my love for my country through my art. It is most of my inspiration through the prism of integration of the rethinking of ancient traditions from ancestors. I want to show the world that is interesting. In every country, there is something unique and interesting, something that is interesting to know. So I am interested in history and traditions, and folklore, and then there is a mix of everything in my head, and then, OP, I see a picture, I do not understand what I saw, and sometimes, the idea is going first, and I think Above her. Then I follow the picture, I see pictures, and then I think, and as I fill myself with the sculpture with lightness, it will be possible to swing it in me so that it is not heavy. And I do, hands do. Visualization works. And the idea, the content fills the product. Thank you for your time and attention. I hope to find a common interest with you. And have a nice day! Two of my sculptures from the new project December 2020. Since May 2021 are in the collection of the Museum of Ukraine in the Museum of the History of the City of Kiev One of my black&white photos, get Berliner Liste Special Edition during Berlin Art Week 2017, when I took part in an exhibition in Berlin. I like to work in eco-art and other types of a socially important genre of contemporary art. I am inspired by what is happening around us. Ideas like the lightning sparkle in me. Sometimes it’s not easy to immediately realize an idea, I like to combine unusual things and surprise. I want to draw attention to open questions, such as preserving the environment, by using unusual materials in my work, as well as how beautiful a woman’s portrait is in black and white shadow. I have many ideas, but my main goal is to tell people in an accessible and interesting language how important is the preservation of the purity of our ecology and beauty will save the world and love makes us wiser.
