About the Artist Shreela Nitin Gokarn, is an established digital and mixed media artist, with an international exposure. She was born in Mangalore, India. Professionally in the art domain as an interior designer since 1991setting up beautiful spaces for homes and offices with particular interest in bringing color to the spaces. She naturally transitioned into making abstract art in 2015. Turning her passion into a career, self-taught and experimental, she takes inspiration from great artists such as Gerhard Richter, S.H. Raza, Brinda Miller and other contemporary artists from India and abroad. Shreela, has held many a group shows in India and abroad. She was one of the 100 artists who displayed her work at the Art Baho Festival in Barcelona, Spain. She was represented by the Art Nou-Millenni Gallery in Barcelona in 2019. In India she has showcased her work all across the country specially in Delhi, at the India International Centre and India Habitat Centre. The multimedia artist, Ms. Shreela N. Gokarn, approaches each medium in her unique way. From digital art, to acrylics, and oil painting, each of them is characterized by a different process. The artist says, art is a visual language of emotions. She paints intuitively layer upon layer, on textured canvas or digital canvas until she instinctively arrives at a desired result. Each layer of paint starts a new chapter inviting a dialogue with the previous layer until a holistic story emerges. This process involves a balance between intuitive instinct and careful deliberation. There doesn't always have to be a definite intention or idea to get started. Sometimes, just the act of doing is the inspiration. Exploring the process allows her to see the outcome. She derives great satisfaction in the journey which is a reward in itself.
