View In My Room
On my safari trips to photograph wildlife in Southern Africa, I encountered Khoi San rock art. It occurred to me that it and the graffiti I'd been photographing in Europe were both forms of self-expression. Using a photographic base, I paint, draw, and spray (paint) my way into an exciting world in this vibrant fusion of old and contemporary expression. I've merged the majesty of the lioness with the fragility of the bird. Crafting with acrylic, graffiti, pen, spray, and ink, it becomes a dance of contrasts, highlighting the beauty of coexistence. This piece will enliven your space with its energetic hues and thought-provoking juxtapositions.

Ann is a vibrant and prolific artist, wildlife photographer, and author. She was voted in 2020 as one of South Africa's top artists. She initially became known for her ‘ewe/sheep’ series of work. Whilst maintaining her ironic humor she has painted a number of other series of works, including ‘Wild Life’ ‘Zulu Lulu’ and 'Going to the Dogs series. A recurring theme in her work is a play on words and the use of popular jargon. Her quirky, humorous, yet profoundly insightful art, allows the viewer not only to laugh at themselves but to examine many of the absurd aspects of life.
