About The Artwork

Old Japanese Kimono patterns. 17th century. Artisans found inspiration in their everyday life from cherry blossoms to fish scales, then distilled down to beautiful minimal patterns. Transplant this idea into 21st century London and I created a series of joyful contemporary prints inspired by manhole covers from London, Tokyo and New York – in order to highlight the idea that beauty can be discovered in ordinary places.
