I am Payal Prakash from Chennai, India. Born in 1980, Mumbai, Maharashtra; with a passion and talent of creating fine art for my emotional enjoyment and intellectual hunger. My art gives me confidence and a sense of pride, making me feel at peace and mindfulness. How I started? Since my childhood, I have loved visiting art galleries and museums, exploring every detail, and standing there for hours. I had never realised that I had always been participating in all art activities, competitions, and every project work since I was in my kindergarten. Since then, my intensive love for art has only evolved. I participated and kept winning awards for my school. But due to lack of knowledge and fruitful advice, I could never afford to go to a fine arts school. Yet, this never stopped me from learning and creating, just to be lost into nothingness. Art, to me, is like breathing every moment. It makes me happy, content, and sails me through all worries. After years of fulfilling my responsibilities as a household woman, I was once enlightened. Although surrounded by a happy and content family, my inner being could not rest well. The once, old time love for art was now a desire to accomplish what was left behind. Small steps unfolded into greater version of me. My artistic journey has now started to take shape. My art practice— I had finally wanted to hold my brushes once again. And thus started to sketch and paint, spread my canvas and put some dabs of colours onto it. I just wanted love myself once more. The emotional enjoyment evolved gradually into serious art making. I took up classes and workshops to fund my art process. And enrolled myself in National Institute of fine arts to master my skills and achieve a rightful degree. Participated in various exhibitions at different destinations, yet learning from advice and comments, I get from my viewers. Professional work— I work in Acrylic and Oil mediums, also exploring with different mediums at times. My works are at an intersection of reality and abstraction. Although I explore into human faces and gestures, the subject, I most gravitate towards are the scenic views of forest trees, landscapes and waterfalls. It gives me a moment of calmness and inner satisfaction. I aim for— Me and my works aim to bring happiness and a sense of calm among the viewers. As every human, I too crave for a peaceful environment, away from the hustle and bustle and stressful duties of life.
