The “Monoliths” series approaches the human body as so many blocks of stone intended to be sculpted, where shapes are already discernible, recognizable, but unfinished. The bodies shown were photographed almost as they are; it is the camera angle that results in this bizarre, surprising, sometimes disturbing aspect. “Monolithe I” appears as a standing mineral block, a distant evocation of Celtic menhirs and monoliths, treated like an engraving, with pencil and drypoint lines, bordering on cyanotype in terms of colors. This work is produced in mixed media on canvas. It combines photography, digital art and acrylic painting (lacquered glaze and relief squares), it is a unique piece and it comes with a certificate of authenticity (COA). The paintography is framed in black wood (dimensions: approximately 37 x 27 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
