About The Artwork

This piece was created as part of a large body work called 'The Fractal Forest'. I spent a winter with my favourite tree, my sycamore. I studied it in all its glorious fractal form. Inspired by the growth of the geometry as it forms into the tree before my eyes. I am inspired by nature as it grows and decays around me, the beautiful passage of time. The oil paint wash is created from fallen leaves from the sycamore, while the pencil abstracted growth is created through a fractal process of creation.
