About The Artwork

Perspective: Aripeka Sandhills Preserve is a Hybrid VR Painting. Hybrid VR Paintings are physical paintings that may be enjoyed as AR/VR experiences. The painting can be experienced as a 360° panoramic experience on cellular devices, touchscreen monitors, Smart TVs, Google Cardboard, and other devices. This painting is part of the collection Resilient Americana at: http://resilientamericana.com. This painting (and the text below) was featured in a regular AR/VR feature in the Hernando Sun Times. I hope to make a book of this series of paintings. The intent of “Perspective: Aripeka Sandhills Preserve” is to be a contemplation piece on the virtue of the perspective we receive from being in nature. This sentiment is expressed in my planned forthcoming book on American or Florida virtues: “When we experience stress, our worldview sometimes appears to contract: our options seem less than they actually are; our living space feels more limited and cramped than it actually is; our innate freedom feels cut off from the natural abundance available to us. However, when we return to nature, we return to the fundamental primacy of our own nature. We renew our connection to the natural world. We share in the interdependence of breath that all flora shares with fauna. Our breath becomes deeper, and the circle of our in-breath flows naturally to our out-breath, mirrored invisibly in the greenery all around us, sharing in a communion of breath. Enjoying a relaxed breath of fresh air, being close to water, trees, tall grass, natural rocks, and flowers is what the soul deeply requires. This immersion into nature is what I call perspective, especially if there is a view with some elevation. Like that tree far off in the distance, all our problems seem smaller.” I painted this in Brooksville, Florida during the COVID-19 quarantine. Purchasing “Perspective: Aripeka Sandhills Preserve” you receive: • the acrylic painting on Canson paper; • jpg, mp4, and online host-able app files; • certificate of authenticity; • access to hosted site on davealber.com; • instruction manual describing how to view the painting on cellphone, tablet, Smart TV, touch screen monitor, or other devices; • and access to stereoscopic apps when they become available. (My plan is to upload all of the files in this gallery as a stereoscopic app ASAP.) After you’ve displayed your Hybrid VR Painting on different devices, chat with me. I’d love to hear from you and learn what formats you would like to see your painting made available for. Dave Alber retains the copyright of the art.
