About The Artwork

Hash/Pillars of Creation Gold metalled embroidery on Canson 290g Paper Print. Ballpoint pen / Ink / Liquin Sealed/Varnished Framed - 42.5 x 32.5 x 3.5 cm Paper Format - 40 x 30 cm I wanted to join the most current ancient known symbol. The Hash (Tag) and Imagery from the James Webb Telescope. The background is a 4 x mirrored image of the Pillars of Creation as taken by the JWT. The earliest human drawing, dating back to the Stone Age, has been found in a cave in South Africa. It is a cross-hatched pattern and was drawn with a red ochre crayon. A team of scientists from Norway, South Africa, Switzerland and France found that the pattern had been intentionally drawn onto silcrete stone. It is about 73,000 years old, making it at least 30,000 years older than other abstract and figurative drawings that have been found in Africa, Europe and southeast Asia. It is preferred - the works shown without the plexiglass. The beautiful quality and character of the paper and golden thread exposed. The plexiglass will be included in delivery ( between paper and backboard.)

Figurative works have moved to ' Sentient Animalia' - Saatchi Page Landscape works have moved to - 'Ancient Light' - Saatchi Page From South Africa to the south of France via London, Peter Pitout has developed a style of his own. He has participated in several exhibitions in France, and art residencies in France, Germany, and Finland. Artist Statement - Often referencing physics and metaphysics, my work explores the varying relationships between philosophy, surreal concepts, and the modern digital age. Engaging subjects as diverse as particle physics, meditation and intimacy, my work reproduces familiar visuals and symbolism, arranging them into new conceptually layered images. While I use a variety of materials and processes within my body of work, I naturally return to oil paint. I enjoy studying modern concepts through this ancient lens. My series of works are linked by recurring observations of the current time and through the study of subject matter. The subject matter of each body of work determines the materials and the formats of the work. Each project often consists of multiple works, grouped around a specific theme.
