About The Artwork

It's still too early to tell, but it's likely that the year 2020 has ushered the entire world into a new era, an era of unprecedented technological control. In the new society resulting from the pandemic and the measures taken to contain it, individual freedoms have been restricted and a form of social credit has been established. Now, for health and safety reasons, a verification of personal status is required. The individuality of human beings has disappeared and has been replaced by digital referencing based on QR Codes: what counts is no longer the person but their compliance with the rules verified by digital authentication. Smile, you're being scanned! This painting is a one-of-a-kind piece made in mixed technique on canvas. It combines photography, digital composition and acrylic painting (glazing and transparent squares in relief). It is framed in black wood (total dimensions: approximately 81 x 56 x 3.5 cm)

« In the age of digital technologies, I couldn't just be a painter or a photographer. My 'paintographies' bring down borders between techniques and offer a resolutely contemporary hybrid art. » I was born in 1975 in a small town in the French countryside and arrived in Paris in 1992 for my studies (History, English and literature). I have been a professional artist since 2007, with over 60 exhibitions across France and Europe. My artistic approach is both simple and complex. Although my work portrays a figurative aesthetic that favors clarity, it does so through a complex blending of photography, digital art, and acrylic painting. The result is a mixed technique I call ‘paintography’. My compositions highlight the fragility of the human body. I transform my model into virtual sculptures by replacing their skin with mineral materials to represent the passage of time.
