An artist characterised by abstraction and portraits of women, for she is fascinated by the female body, which she considers “sensual, delicate, full of grace, subtlety, mystery, temptation, contradiction, weakness, and strength, submission and wildness”. Thus, her work reflects the feminine experience, presenting what she sees as intrinsic to the female body and conveying this to others. She mainly paints women though has been known to portray horses, abstracting both using an original technique – aided by rollers, putties, or structural plasters with brushes used only for mixing paints or retouching. She is fascinated by combined techniques; she believes that the homogeneity of the surface does not allow it to fully use its potential. “I am motivated by the works of artists living and those who have passed away. I love Vermeer, Rembrandt.” This is clearly reflected in her art which manipulates shapes and colours with agility. Although earth tones dominate most of her paintings, this artist is not afraid to tint her work in shades of blue or red, emphasising the dramatic, mysterious, and mystic feel of her work.
