About The Artwork

O, good klezmer, take your fiddle in hand, And play for me the song of the Golden Land…. Once upon a time, my mother used to sing me This song with great feeling. O, play it for me, play! When I hear the song, it seems That my dear mother is hovering over me. Her lovely figure, her tender glance— They awaken my childhood happiness… Mordechai Gebirtig Gebirtig lived in Krakow in the area called Kazimierz, which was a Jewish District at his times, before the World War II. A place full of life and cultural diversity. When I was a child I used to visit my grandma, who lived nearby. That was the time of communism, so the area was totally changed. The buildings were worn out and people very poor, there were almost no Jews. But I always loved this area and felt some kind of magic there. Maybe I could sense the old times, a district full of life and cultural variety. When I’ve read Gebirtig’s poetry, The Song of the Golden Land touched me the most. It’s nostalgia and longing for the place full of happiness, joy and flowering. The Triptych of digital paintings illustrate the shadow of elderly loneliness and memories in contrast to the golden light of happy childhood and sweet mother’s love. Size (original) with a 5,5 cm white margin on each side: 46x61cm - 35x50cm without margin. Art is giving birth to creation. No matter what would I create it will always be art. I love to paint, it is like falling into a trans state and giving life to your own world, world of colors and figures from your imagination. They always have their own story, which reveals to me the more I look at them. I love to create illustrations and then give them new life animating their movement. Sometimes I dance and even happened that I performed in a theater. I love to dream and imagine things, so many people ask me to guide them into so-called inner journeys or visualizations. ---------------------------------------------------- Justyna Rosa is an artist, graduated from the Departments of Painting and Arts Education at the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow; a painter, designer and animator, working for a variety of companies in Poland and Europe, amongst them Phoenix Press, Donnelley Polish American Printing Company, RMF.fm, OpusB, adHeads, Sephora, Hyundai, Idea Bank and many others.
