Spleen is a project of 13 works, all processed with acrylic paint and photo collage on canvas, all in the square format. They are subjects that have an obvious reference to the historical period just experienced of pandemic by Covid19; they retrace the everyday by highlighting the loneliness made of waiting, absences, and distances between the subjects. Restlessness, spleen, a word derived from the Greek σπλήνn), meaning "spleen," like the English word. The conception of spleen and melancholia derives from Greek humor medicine, according to which, by a strange association, black bile (produced by the spleen) leads to a state of restlessness, of existential malaise. Also, in China, spleen is one of the foundations of character and is thought to affect mood. In French, spleen represents meditative sadness or melancholy and is generally known through the work of French poet Charles Baudelaire. Hence the reflection that each of us carries images that have marked us in some way. We are made of memories, and memories for most people are mainly visions, to which words, sounds, tactile and olfactory sensations are connected.
