Sunrise, acrylic on canvas board. This was inspired by a sunrise in Tolo, Greece. Two origami swans represent the fragility of humans and leaving creatures in general, comparing to the powers of nature. Here is the full text of what I wrote down after seeing the sunrise: A complete darkness on the horizon is first changed into a gentle pink. Then, the first song of far away rosters comes by, for a couple of minutes. Next they slow down and stop and the turtledoves start their first song of the day. After a couple of minutes they turn more silent and the Mediteranean crickets start making their first chorus. This sequence is repeated several times like in an ancient drama for about half an hour. A couple of boats are coming back from the night shift, with dim lights, cutting the almost flat surface of the sea. A robot is slowly moving left and right on the bottom of the hotel swimming pool, cleaning what the kids have left the previous evening. The dogs start barking in the distant villages. The pink gets stronger. A flock of terns flies up very high above the city, circling around and announcing: "we can already see it!! we can already see it!!" A raven flies to the highest cypress tree to see the sunrise as his daily ritual. And then, the main player comes to the stage. Behind the distant hills, a huge disk of sun appears slowly filling up pink with yellow and red. In a couple of minutes, it is totally visible above the horizon, spreading the burning daily light everywhere. All the sounds stop as a sign of total and unquestionable worship of all leaving creatures. After a minute, the sound of all animals come back in a random way. The raven flies away from the cipruss tree, following his business. A new day has arrived in Tolo.
