I enjoy woking on reflective surfaces, allowing the metal to show through the overlapping layers of imagery and pigments. This piece reflects a sense of depth and movement and a feeling of motion through the visual layers. During NASA’s Mercury project (1958-1963) teletype systems were used for mission critical communications between Goddard Space Flight Center and remote tracking stations and was comprised of over 100,000 miles of teletype lines! These Teletype pieces (TT52) show actual punched holes (words in digital form) in teletype tape. So cool! Working in such diverse media as metal sculpture, painting, photography, digital media and image transfers I now combine these into my latest works.
