About The Artwork

The Bear - a memorial sculpture My bear is meant to serve as a memorial sculpture. The oversized teddy bear leaves a surreal impression. The bear is used for a special purpose - relief. The Bear is synonymous for those who missed warmth and closeness in their childhood and were not allowed to experience it for various reasons. The Bear, both a memorial and a consolation, promotes more empathy with one another. The Bear as a symbol of love and trust in a modern and increasingly lonely world is how it should be perceived. The Bear is also a kind of eternal escape from adulthood, which is almost an inherent part of our crazy times. In fact, the most diverse associations are triggered in the encounter with my oversized teddy bear.... This closeness lets us experience object and space at the same time. Leaning towards a familiar object that we know from childhood is generally associated positively and evokes a feeling of well-being.
However, The Bear also reminds some of suffering that hit too early, when children's first needs were not met. It is a disturbance of inner connection and an endless state of tension in repressed childhood feelings that can affect adulthood and the rest of life, like a kind of eternal escape from adulthood that has become almost a permanent fixture in our crazy times. Meeting the cute teddy leaves most of us with a smile on our face and a warm feeling, for most of us...
