"Who Will Survive: The Man or the Fish?" This artwork is the result of a deeply personal journey, reflecting themes of rejection from society and the desire to remain honest and humane. Created digitally on a tablet from a self-photograph, it was later printed on 2mm acrylic glass (0.08 inches), leaving the unpainted areas completely transparent. Using archival ink for the print, I then applied acrylic paint on the back of the glass, adding layers with brushes to give the work its final form. The smooth front side remains untouched and clear, enhancing the sense of depth and tension within the piece. The image portrays a figure wearing a wide, transparent medical collar—similar to those used on animals to prevent self-harm. The head is lifted, and the space within the collar is filled with water, where a goldfish swims, suspended between life and death. The question lingers: Should the water be poured out, or kept? The goldfish could symbolize ancient wishes, divine forces, or personal hope, bringing tension between control and surrender, sacrifice and survival. The work challenges common narratives of victimhood and self-sacrifice, encouraging the viewer to explore the subtle line between being true to oneself and meeting societal expectations. Now available as both a high-quality print on fine art paper and as the original acrylic glass painting, this piece invites viewers to contemplate the fragility of life and the paradox of choice. Will you pour the water or hold it steady?

Artist and curator, I explore themes of identity, memory, and transformation through diverse media, including painting, performance, and augmented reality (AR). My practice reflects a complex journey—from my birthplace in Crimea, through years in Russia, to my current life in Georgia. These transitions have shaped my understanding of adaptation and self-reinvention, inspiring a universal artistic language. Recently, I have been working on ungessoed canvas, a technique that reflects my current focus on mobility and ease of transportation. This approach allows paint to interact with the raw texture of the fabric, creating tactile depth and emphasizing the dialogue between material and intent. While I find inspiration in the ideas and methods of artists like Claude Monet, René Magritte, Ilya Kabakov, and Maurizio Cattelan, I have cultivated a style distinctly my own. These influences serve as tools I reinterpret to realize my vision. Each work becomes an invitation to dialogue, an exploration of resilience and renewal, which lie at the heart of my practice.
