About The Artwork
This artwork derives from a new way of making new forms from existing photographs by concentrating on parts of the picture rather than the whole picture. Also I wanted to make a different form than the usual square mirroring. That led to this more round shape which has also some nature feeling with it. I hope the audience will enjoy the figure itself with the sticky points (which I really like!) and also that it comes from something completely different: an object near the IJ river in Amsterdam. As said I used a part of a old picture to make this artwork. I like the fact that my old pictures can be used in a different way. In a broader perspective you could say that I do my own digital recycling. I tried to achieve a calm style with this work, but it depends where you concentrate your eyes on.

I was raised in a town called Groningen and became involved with photography during my study Dutch Language and Literature. My father gave me a camera (Fuji) for my 16th birthday. My digital artwork is based on photography. I try to create new forms that originate from ordinary, sometimes even unnoticed objects: fire escapes, rusty containers, details of buildings. It's nice to give meaning to things that had little or no meaning before. Sometimes it's like giving life to dead objects. The outcome of a collage is never certain, they continue to surprise. And sometimes one picture is just enough.
