The secret meeting on getting news of the future delocalisation of factory Since a month every time I came across someone from the local factory I would notice that there was a far away worried glance that would for just flit for a moment across an otherwise smiling face. Then last week while returning home I took a short cut through the small park adjacent to the workshop. In a clearing there was this scene where at first the hush-hush atmosphere with kind of electricity in the air gave it all a rather spooky feeling but then I recognised some of the persons that were present. They all worked at the same small enterprise, so actually this probably was some a meeting planning some action in relation to the ongoing agitation at the neighbouring factory. There was drama in the air, but the dilemma for me was how could I capture it on a blank canvas? I was not looking for the graphic qualities in the scenario but for that sensation or anticipation for something to happen or something to do. So what I needed was a medium that gave an airy feeling of something secret while at the same time gave it a sort urgency of a moment that would soon disappear. So, the choice fell on a collage of drawings that had been created on a computer screen and then printed onto an art paper which in turn was then worked on using a special technique. This then could be transferred as a collage onto a blank canvas.
