About The Artwork

Immersed in the desire to strengthen photography after experiencing its weakening, I cover a printed image with a thick layer of clay. I wonder whether, even though the photograph is not exposed, it would still exist only in my certainty that it is there. If that is enough. For photography and for myself. The next day came with a knot in the core. The thick layer of clay had dried, cracked, and released some pieces. In an impulse to give respite to that photograph, to give it peace, rest, I began removing the weight, piece by piece. Each piece I took off also pulled the photograph itself from the paper, leaving a void, a nothingness. After all the fragments were displaced, there was no more photograph before me. Only insufficient traces, remnants of a struggle, and nothing more. Nothing more. This work is divided between the attempt to reproduce this experience and the photograph that becomes something else, that doesn't disappear, that transforms, that exists.
