ABOUT THE ARTWORK

“Unity of Love”. An artwork that dives deep beyond the surface, encapsulating the essence of love and the sacrifices couples embrace to infuse their lives with joy. This piece is inspired by the remarkable tradition of wedding rings, which traces its roots back to ancient Egypt, nearly 6,000 years ago. Yes, you read that right! The Pharaohs were pioneers in the tradition of exchanging wedding rings, once made from simple materials like twisted reed and hemp. Why circles, you may ask? The circle in ancient Egypt symbolized perfection, totality, unity, and, importantly, eternity. It’s a continuous, endless circle, making it an ideal symbol of the eternal love couples promise each other. But there’s more! The Pharaohs were the first to wear the wedding ring on the fourth finger of the left hand, believing it housed a special vein connected directly to the heart, aptly named the “Vein of Love” or “Vena Amoris”. “Unity of Love” seeks to encapsulate this rich history and the profound sentiment of eternal love. May it inspire you to love endlessly and deeply.

Inspired by ancient and contemporary Egyptian culture, I create textured abstract art using mixed media on canvas. My work explores themes of transformation, introspection, and self-discovery, inviting viewers to delve into realms of mystery and imagination. In some of my art pieces, I use simple compositions offset by the complexity of my techniques and embellishments to produce work that is rich and cohesive. The subtle embellishments add depth and warmth, making my art immediately inviting. The selection of the color palette brings a subtle vibrancy to the pieces, harking back to classical styles while remaining firmly rooted in the modern. My textures are so varied, resembling everything from broken pieces of ancient pottery to golden fields of wheat. I use a combination of Liquitex modeling paste, cement, mesh wire, fine sand, resin, paper mâché, and nonflammable acrylic adhesive to build intricate and dynamic textures on canvases. Each material is carefully chosen for its ability to add depth, complexity, and resilience to my work. The process of layering and experimenting with these materials allows me to create unique textures that invite viewers to explore the hidden layers of meaning within each piece. In my artwork, I intuitively build texture on canvas, often depicting either dynamism or stillness. These elements touch emotions and captivate viewers, taking them into places of their own imagination. To me, art is a journey of exploration and understanding. It is a way to evoke curiosity, introspection, and a deeper connection with the world around us. Through my art, I aim to inspire viewers to embark on their own journeys of self-discovery and transformation.
