About The Artwork
This works inspiration was taken directly from my personal experiences of the COVID lockdowns and isolation. At a point where everything was moved online, all interactions both personal and professional, at times it felt like we may never escape, but remain trapped by the eternal hellfire that is social media and the internet. The work features a velcro hanging system. A wooden baton is supplied with the work, which is mounted to the wall directly. On this baton there is a strip of hook velcro, which matches up to a strip of loop velcro stitched on the reverse of the tapestry. This work was woven on an Ashford Table loom with cotton warp, using new and secondhand fibres.
