About The Artwork

Initially starting out as a sphere, forces deform the surface according to a physical model. A collision object applies additional external pressure to change the shape of our simulated object. After a certain point in time, additional internal pressure increases to give the appearance of inflation. This happens in an artist-controlled manner and leads to specific aesthetic forms. The artist conceives and realizes the coordination of all these forces, the definitions of the material properties, the planning and staging of the dependencies as well as the decision making over success or failure of a computer generated result. On every run out of a sequence of trials, an interaction emerges which inspires new ideas and raises new awareness for future work.

Vladimir was born in 1984 in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina and moved to Switzerland in his early childhood. After completing his studies in photography at the F+F School of Art and Media Design in Zurich, he worked as a 3D artist and technical lead at Frame Eleven AG in Zurich. After autodidactic studies on different facets of the 3D animation field, he focused his interests on the technical aspects of production. In 2008, he co-founded Elefant Studios AG in Zurich, a company providing services in digital visual effects and 3D animation. In addition to developing in-house software for his own enterprise, he played a crucial role in numerous national as well as international projects in the field of film and advertisement. During this time he was also lecturing 3D animation at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Lucerne, Switzerland. The interest in natural sciences as well as the reproduction of natural phenomena in the virtual environment has always been the driving force in the artist’s development: It began with studies of light and observation, the acquisition of abilities to manipulate real-life objects. Followed up by means of creating new techniques using computer code to develop digital worlds in imaginary images. For him everything revolves around ways to dissolve the real world into its observable attributes and to subsequently combine exactly these in a more abstract domain. Simulated, but still authentic, calculated with mathematical equations and yet aesthetically staged.
