About The Artwork
Each tiny line (like that tiny lone line in the middle by the red) represents one minute during the 100 days of the Rwandan genocide in 1994. It is estimated that 5 people were murdered every minute during that time, and this drawing therefore reflects all estimated million that were murdered in total. The red line separates figuratively the Tutsi and Hutu ethnic groups whose conflict was the foundation for the mass genocide.
