Jeux d'enfants - Limited Edition of 10 Artwork

I went to my mom's village once in my life and decided i would never again set foot there. My Maternal grandfather had just passed, and we went to burry him in his village. Coming from the city, nothing had prepared me for the stories, the traditions due to my family being of royal decent, the many unfamiliar faces and mostly the children and the intimidating games they played to scare off city children such as myself. I had never seen people so happy & free with so little. looking back, I should have appreciated that time more for the many stories during that brief week have stayed with me 20 years. I hope looking at this painting, you look beyond the nudity and think back of a time when you were innocent still. I chose this subject matter for it relates my background; i am Franco- Cameroonian & through my art explore my African origins. I invite you to see Africa per my lenses. I make art that brings light to my experience & resonates with people similar to me. I narrate through art, words and sounds the black experience and the untold stories of my African peers due to a lack of (positive) representation. 
My culture is often misunderstood, misrepresented, abused and usurped. 
I am here to reclaim it’s glory and pains; I intend to give tribute and love to the many rites & customs within the African continent.
I create patterns/fabrics that relate to my experience & as such I reflect various textures such as raffia or kente cloth as I see fit.
It starts with a feeling or a song. I choose the background fabric or color then I think of characters who complement both the feelings & the background. My art is Love & I hope you can take some of it with you I do not have a specific style yet as i am very new to painting, and my expression is so free that it may drastically vary from piece to piece.
