This Project is an ongoing large scale artwork by media artist Jon Goldman to document his village using digital painting of the individuals who, together, make a community. The focus is on the villagers as a group, not a singular person. The final work will be an environment that houses 781 metal prints of the villagers. “I set out in 2012 on an ambitious project to digitally paint portraits of the people of Woods Hole, Massachusetts, my home. I have painted 200 towards my goal of completing 781 faces. The installation as an animation project is also a metaphorical portrait of the concept of “community” as a place always in transition.“
