She was just as likely to be found with her face glued to a computer screen as running barefoot along an overgrown trail high up in the mountains. Her time at work -- the manager at a coffee shop -- was largely spent hitting on college girls, I observed. Her boyfriend, though, was older. She told me she enjoyed how unfair he was. She drank daily, sometimes heavily, and often from the bottom shelf. She was mostly vegetarian, health conscious, and bought organic. I'd known her for fifteen years when she posed for me, but felt as if I'd barely scratched the surface in that time. ~ The image was created primarily with a somewhat antiquated program, Paint Shop Pro 9, having been released in 2004. I prefer it for a number of reasons, chief among them comfort, and romantically for the limited tool set. Time spent actively working with the subject on poses was approximately half an hour. First drafts of this piece were overly complex and quickly scrapped, and the final image came together in about five hours when I eventually got rid of all the bad ideas. The original print is the only time this image will ever be committed to canvas, with open edition prints available on archival paper. The original is signed and dated on the back.
