When I watched old B science fiction movies from the 1950's as a child I was always waiting for the scene when the monster or space alien would first appear. It never bothered me that some of the otherworldly beings looked pretty fake; to me they were always literally what they were presented to be. As an artist with autism my work is often a reflection of how I experience the world around me. I am sometimes overwhelmed by loud sounds, crowds of people, or the unfamiliarity of places that I've never been. It is the sensory equivalent of nails on a chalkboard but the sound never ceases; it keeps on reverberating and growing in intensity. In my paintings I use vibrant, extreme and excessive colors to craft images of a world that exists in a constant state of overkill. It is all a bit "too much" for the eye because I’m conveying what life is like for me on a daily basis. My artwork is deliberately over the top and exaggerated as my perception of reality is off times the same.
