PlaasBrand01 - Limited Edition 1 of 12 Artwork

The work 'Plaasbrand' was inspired by my Afrikaner Roots, Association and experiences in South Africa especially during the Apartheid Era... and triggered by the recent focus on the Plaasmoorde (Murder of White, predominantly Boer/Afrikaner farmers). The works on Backlit Glass are presented, by choice of medium, as decorative pieces of art... although the 'Inhalt' is far from being described as decoratrive art... Roger Hopley's work on the 'Bittereinders' exhibition and body of work... is as Herman Hesse said, not the message, not the light, just the window. These images of destruction which would lead to death and capitilation... are metamorpharisations from the cold fact as seen in the original picture... to the creating the illusion of beauty by primarily the choice of medium and not by the emphasis of content. Packaging... is a big part of the deceit..
