About The Artwork

This particular artwork is one of the early editions from a series of Artist Portraits and is a flat graphic pop version of the earlier composition, using muted colours and an alternative colour palette. This has turned out quite different to the original test proof as I spent much longer re-working and re-inventing the 'Orphism' style (with a Pop Art twist). The portraits include well known classic artists such as Pablo Picasso, Sonia Delauney, Mondrian, Jackson Pollack, Seurat, Hockney, Warhol, Magritte, Richard Hamilton, Tamara De Lempicka, Damien Hirst, Man Ray, Lee Miller and Raushenberg. Sonia Delaunay (November 14, 1885 – December 5, 1979) was a Ukrainian-born French artist, who spent most of her working life in Paris and, with her husband Robert Delaunay and others, cofounded the Orphism art movement, noted for its use of strong colours and geometric shapes. Her work extends to painting, textile design and stage set design. She was the first living female artist to have a retrospective exhibition at the Louvre in 1964, and in 1975 was named an officer of the French Legion of Honor. Her work in modern design included the concepts of geometric abstraction, the integration of furniture, fabrics, wall coverings, and clothing. • Type: Fine-Art Print • Medium: Giclée • Materials: 100% Cotton Hahnemühle Photorag • 30 inch Square Special Edition of only 6 • Image at approx. 85% paper size • Digital Limited Editions may be available • This artwork is sold unframed • Signed, accredited and numbered by the artist • Limited Editions Include Certificates of Authenticity Artwork will be shipped rolled in secure tube. www.C-ZAR.com
