About The Artwork
This image derives from a series of photos that I took in Malaysia. I wanted to represent the vivid colours of red light districts and the tempting positions prostitutes pose to attract clients. All the women on the image are exactly the same except for the colour. This choice conveys the impression that all these women on the sidewalk look alike except for the colour of their clothes. They have no personality, they are just seen as extremely similar objects where only the wrapping or package differentiates them. I used vivid and flashy colours to stand out from the black background to remind of the neons in such city areas at night.
