The Rock - Limited Edition 1 of 1 Artwork

The rock There it was like a giant dried pea in its giant pod unable to fall onto the ground and waiting for some giant bird to come along and shake it free. I came upon this rock formation on one of my long rambling walks in the countryside near Saumur in France. Here often we can come across the vestiges of rock shelters called dolmens and erected by stone age man. Unfortunately, the great stone slab had snapped into two large pieces and now a little footpath wove its way through it to join a rough crossroads like two silent sentinels since thousands of years patiently awaiting someone to come by. Now what is that special feeling that I get from this scene that is not so spectacular. First of all an extreme calm and quiet reigns over the silent fields freshy ploughed with only a few brambly bushes that surround the rocks but nothing has been sowed as yet so that is not even the legendary crows or black birds trying to steal the grain but the earth so recently turned gives you those sensations that life is there hiding behind the dark brown lumps of soils and was just waiting to show itself in the form of soft green sprouts and the two flat rocks were like two stoic witnesses to the passage of time and the different lives that went by on their way to some unknown destiny that patiently held it's mysterious and future development ready for them.
