The Writing Of Crime and Punishment Born out of playing with light and darkness and the saturated crimson red of an Exotic Red Chrysanthemum. Shot with a macro lens in a dark room with only a reading light accentuated the deep red color and velvet texture of the petals against the darkness of the night. The light and shadows seemed forbidden and anguished while being intoxicating. Once movement came to the piece it took on it’s life saturating the canvas with it’s dark brooding energy. Acrylic Museum Printmount – Artworks mounted on acrylic give images a beautiful, modern look. TruLife acrylic delivers the highest-resolution viewing experience possible, to truly reflect the artist’s vision, and nothing else. It’s anti-reflective, abrasion resistant and anti-static.

Rebecca Ryan was born on May 10th 1964. Her childhood experiences growing up in rural Alberta, Canada, on a large working farm have shaped her life and her art. “There was no time to stop and see as a child.” Rebecca‘s artistic journey did not come around until after making a career change, slowing things down. An avid gardener with a deep love for the small quiet things in nature brought about a passion for macro photography. “I take the time to watch a flower grow, watch a bug make his way across a leaf, wait for the humming birds, that return every year, to sip their nectar.” “What is called “a weed” is quite magical to watch evolve…..” “I never tired of watching my Robins, Rufous Humming Birds and Woodpeckers coming back to the garden in British Columbia in the spring.” During the winter Rebecca spends time in Southern Florida. “I am inspired everyday by the flowers and birds.” Over the past year Rebecca has returned to to her birth place Edmonton, Alberta and has started working in acrylic paint. “It’s nice to be back. The summer skies and gardens are wonderful inspiration. I have a lovely space to explore painting.” Her abstract art is guided by emotion and the spectacular palette of color she captures in her macro photography of the flowers, insects, plants, trees and anything else in nature. Rebecca hopes to encourage the eye to linger on a piece and refresh one’s self……celebrate. She hopes to bring a feeling of calm and serenity, or joy and energy to the collector’s environment. “We cannot create a more spectacular palette of colors than nature presents us with.” While Rebecca’s subject matter is almost exclusively from nature there are a few pieces that bring man and nature together to create something beautiful. “I believe nature speaks to our subconscious more than our conscious and because of this the art created from it helps to create balance in our lives”
