This is the piece 1 in the series: more than a 9-5, it is work to be a woman - is a series of 40 pieces made from work-worn pantyhose, manipulated and put on display.
The hosiery is fixed with gel gloss medium and photographed as a secondary view.

My work contorts at the usual view of the subject and confronts the structural integrity. Stretching form and expanding meaning. The neutral color palate keeps them as a sleek piece to display but their original function is much more personal.

Hosiery can be many things. It can be a uniform, a costume, and a custom. It can be sexual fetish or virginal and chaste. It is out of fashion and it is modern. It can be restricting, binding, suffocating and it can freeing.

But in all of this, pantyhose are a female experience.
