About The Artwork
Chris Boughton is a visual artist and his work normally is influenced by nature and process. Boughton, is from the Dallas area and has a MFA in Sculpture and BFA in Drawing and Painting. This painting is a part of a series that trace the topographical view of the surface of the painting. With this series Boughton usually starts by building a textured surface. Then he determines the color pallet and how it is used. When Boughton traces the topography he uses one continues line from a single starting point. Some paintings have more than one starting point and those will have their own line. When using multiple starting points on the same plain most likely the lines will not cover the whole painting like the single starting point painting, because they will collide into one another. When this happens it cancels the other line out similar to wave forms.

I’m a visual artist my work is frequently inspired by nature. My daily walks let me commune with nature from watching the ducks interact to observing the pattern of the bark on a tree. Like an improvisational Jazz musician I compose on the fly using pattern, repetition and texture to create my forms. I have my BFA in drawing and painting and my MFA in sculpture. After I graduated with my BFA I started an apprenticeship with the sculptor Mike Cunningham http://www.mcunninghamstudio.com/ I worked for him for 2 years then started my MFA program. Then after I graduated with my MFA I worked for Richard Davis http://www.richarddavissculpture.com/ for about 11 months. Now I'm working as an artist and teacher.
