I wanted to paint something that captured the drama of that terrible day,but I did not want to paint the twin towers, the planes and all that horror, so I decided to try and show the human drama of people caught up in a catastrophic situation. The three figures in the panting could actually be in Syria,Iraq or any conflict or terrorist attack now.
