About The Artwork

This piece, which belongs to a large body of work totaling 1001 meters long, is ultimately about the exploration of my spiritual quest. That is to say, the investigation into a spiritual identity that encompasses all aspects of my life. This piece in particular addresses the merger and lack of boundaries that clearly identify an emotion. Often when I try to identify what is happening inside of myself, I struggle to pin down a single word or emotion. Instead I come across a myriad of words that are closely related and sometimes they are complimentary or conflicting. This painting attempts to capture these moments. This is painting number 91. The aim of the 1001 meters is to create a body of work that required a durational effort greater than possible in one sitting or even a few months. As I sit down to paint everyday, I do so knowing that the first painting and the last painting would bear the burden of documenting a process that will see (hopefully) an evolution not just artistically but also personally.
