About The Artwork
This is one of a series of oversized pebbles, painted against an abstract flat background. I'm interested here in the obvious smoothness of the stone from a distance contrasted with the speckles and pockmarked surface on closer inspection. This, together with the process of creation of the pebble itself, giving rise to the series title. The symbolism is emphasised by the suspension of the pebbles - floating in space.
