About The Artwork

Working with the energies of colour, I strive to create art that generates emotion Art that reveals the beauty of things broken The inherent artistic perfection of the imperfect and the aged Layers of colour and texture applied and removed Art revealed through damage and distress 30 x 40 inches (76 x 101 cm) 1.75" deep edge gallery wrapped canvas The painting is varnished to protect it from UV rays, dust, dirt and abrasions. It is wired and ready to hang. During the initial stages of painting, I paint the sides of the canvas. During the later stages, while I am pouring and dripping paint, spraying water onto the canvas, scraping and squeegeeing the paint, some of the paint will drip over the sides of the painting. I prefer to leave the drips and splashes of paint on the sides, and not paint over them. By doing this, the process that the painting has gone through to get to the final stage is recorded. The sides of the painting become their own work of art. The painting is signed on the side and back. Along with smudging each painting with smoke from locally grown sage and cedar, Kimberley incorporates the healing energies of reiki into each painting. It is Kim’s hope and intent that each painting brings peace and love into the homes and hearts of her collectors. www.kimbruceart.com
